Department of Zakat and Ushr is a Government department.
	Aim is to collect Zakat and Ushr from the rich and distribute it in the needy people

 

Administration comprises of following tiers: viz,

1. Secrtary Zakat and Ushr
2. Zakat Council,
3. Chief Administrator
4. District Zakat and Ushr Committees
5. Constituency and Local Zakat and Ushr Committee
6. Local Zakat and Ushr Committees

	Zakat and Ushr system was enforced in AJ&K through an Ordinance in 1979
	Later it became an Act viz: Zakat and Ushr Act, 1985
	Zakat council has framed by laws for zakat distribution
